The Silverman Triathlon was a Success

The Silverman Triathlon is now a done deal. The suspicions of the peanut gallery were confirmed and Leland made it though with flying colors. Before we go on, here are the numbers:

Swim Trans 1 Bike Trans 2 Run Time Penalty F-Time
1:23:32 5:53 7:15:40 10:16 5:00:26 13:55:45 5:53 13:55:45

103 overall out of 201 competitors.

This is a marvelous accomplishment and a testament to what you can accomplish if you try. At the beginning of this year 2009, Leland set his mind to participating in the Silverman Triathlon. He made a commitment to training, nutrition, and making the lifesyle changes necessary to compete on a high level. The dedication that he showed this year payed off in the results.

A lot of energy goes into being an addict and when you quit, you have an abundance of energy. This sometimes presents a new problem. What do you do with all that new energy. Here is the answer: Find a positive life-affirming way to use it. It can be athletics, art, social work, science, whatever. There are lots of life-affirming things to do. Find one and do it!

Your new hobbies, your new commitments, your new goals and direction will help you leave those old bad habits in the dust.
